MARINA BRIDGE aND HOTEL
LOS ANGELES, CA
The Bike path on the beach in Los Angeles is discontinuous at the Marina Del Rey. Since it is the second largest tourist attraction in Southern California, this design provides a bridge that continues the bike path from Santa Monica to the South Bay communities without interruption.
Southern California has a long history of entertainment piers that have occupied similar imagery over the past 100 years. Many of these have not survived both fires and weather conditions with the exceptions of the Santa Monica Pier, Malibu and Venice each of which are existing in a diminished form. The scale of this bridge and the quality of the construction would permanently re-establish this building type as a new monument for the City of Los Angeles. It also can provide a unique 200 rooms hotel high above the ocean that would have a world fame and attraction.
