Sun Bank Center

Orlando, Florida

Encompassing a full block in downtown Orlando, the complex’s character derives from an understanding of the beautiful quality of daylight in central Florida.  The materials and details respond to the context of the region as well as a concern for budget and construction.  The lattice, which is used as a formal element at both the very large and very small scale creates cohesion between each of the components and manipulates the play of light throughout the day.  The new tower is actually an addition to the pre-existing seven-story Sun Bank building, which remained in operation throughout the construction.  Upon joining the two buildings a seven-story atrium was created as a feature for the banking hall.
